Quilts and Cool Weather....

Cathy over at The Piece Maker and this cooler weather made me think about quilts. I pieced this top two years ago and it still isn't quilted. Maybe...that will be a good project for this winter. Maybe.....I will start a "quilting bee." Isn't that what it was called, when several ladies got together and quilted? I would love that, and my Mother's quilting frames are just standing there waiting to be used again. Oh, the joy!

Oh Clara....just imagine all your friends gathered around your quilt that is attached to your Mom's rack. Think of the stories that would be told each time yous were together. In the end....when it is finished...there would be so many memories that would be sewn into the quilt. Gives me goose bumps just thinking about it. Your quilt is so nice....I love the pinwheels.

The quilt top is beautiful. I love all the blues in it. I love the new look on your blog, too. A quilting bee would be fun. Don't know how good a quilter I would be but sure would enjoy the company and visiting with everyone.

Hello Clara
Its a lovely top, seems a shame to have it sitting there unfinished.
Make this your project for 2009 - Finish the quilt or bust:)
Take care
Cathy

Clara, that quilt top is just beautiful. I think that would be a wonderful project for the cold days to come. I wish I were your neighbor--I'd bake some cookies, then I'd come over and help you quilt it(after you showed me how, of course!) Then we'd sit around eating cookies. :-)

It's lovely! I made one years ago and I am trying to get it quilted this winter too! I'll probably blog about it before it's over! I try to work on it a little each day.

I think a quilting bee would be great fun!

Hello Clara. Your quilt top is so pretty and with winter coming it would sure be nice to cuddle under. I hope you manage to get it finished soon so you can enjoy it. And yes, a quilting bee would be lots of fun.

Dear Clara,
I have only made and quilted 3 quilts, but I did them in sections, lap quilting them. I am working on a fourth quilt this fall and winter and hope to have it finished in the spring for a fourth grandchild. The other three I made were for grandchildren. Then I have one other to make for a fifth grandchild (they are all grown). Tnen I hope to finally make one for each of my children.
Wish I could be there with you to quilt the one you have pieced. It is beautiful. Love,
Ruby (aka Grammy)

Hi Clara
Thought I'd drop in after your visit to 70 Plus and Still Kicking. Thanks for that.
I love quilts and I have always thought the idea of a quilting circle is wonderful. Team work gets me in!
Visiting other countries per blogs is fascinating, I agree. I hope you enjoy Australia!
Cheers

Hi Clara!
Your quilt top is lovely--and so is your quilting bee idea!
Sounds like a fine way of mixing "buisness w/pleasure!"
Happy Quilting my talented friend!

A quilting bee is a great idea. My great-grandmothers and grandmother did some quilting. I have finished one and would like to do more some day.

I also like your music. :-)

"Life in Wakefield" introduced me to you. Please feel free to stop by and visit our blog anytime.
