Memory Monday....Braids

I hated braids when I was small.  My Mother would part my hair from ear to ear and braid each side and then pin them on top of my head.  On my way to school I would take them down and then you can imagine what my hair looked like but to me it was better than braids.  The picture below is my daughter Lisa. I didn't even have a comb.  She loves braids and wishes I was there every morning to braid her hair.  I wish my Mother could braid mine again too.  I wouldn't complain now!

My mom did my hair the same way, my first grade picture is with my hair in braids and then wound on top of my head! I dib't remember disliking the braids, but I think by the time I was in 2nd or 3rd grade my hair had been cut. I also would love to have my Mom here to braid my hair again....and to make me one more of her homemade biscuits. She made the best biscuits; I just cannot make them like she did.

My mom did my hair that way, too..but so did everyone else. Seems like we would go through spells of wearing pigtails...then would be pony tails...

When Lorelei's mom was in high school and college, she part of the time had this beautiful long hair...down till she could almost sit on it. She would braid it in a hole bunch of braids almost like it was up in a pony tail only it wasn't....but not like dreadlocks...hers sort of reminded me of Jar Jar Binks...she would wear it that way for track or just whatever....she didn't care if anyone else like it or not.

I can remember my Grandma braiding my hair every morning. Some times just pigtails or ponytails, but I loved her braids!
Funny enough I never learned how to do it as a child. I just learned a few weeks ago for my girls. :-)
