ANYONE FOR GRAPES?

According to the news it's a good year for grapes.  The dry humid weather makes for sweeter grapes with a tougher hull.  My grape vines are loaded.  In the end they will be purple.  Here's a cool recipe on these hot days, for a grape salad:  1 T. lemon juice,  1 T. honey,  1 cup bite size cubes cantalope, honeydew melon or watermelon, 1 cup halved red or green grapes, 1 t. slivered fresh mint leaves.   In medium bowl, mix juice and honey.  Add melon and grapes.  Toss gently to coat.  Sprinkle with mint.

WOW, Clara, you sure do have a lot of grapes there! We are getting some much needed rain today and lower temperatures for a change. The girls and I are going to Amish Country tomorrow and I plan to get lots of good stuff. When I was a kid we had grapevines and my mom would make grape juice every year out of the grapes. We never opened it until Christmas and we had it with jam cake on Christmas day. My sister and I looked forward to that grape juice and jam cake as much as we did Santa Claus! You brought back some great memories today. Have a good weekend.

Your grapes are beautiful, Clara. I think we must have some sort of grape disease on a couple of our vines. The other ones are doing well, but those grapes are black and shriveled. Hopefully, I'll have enough to make juice. Our grapes have seeds in them, but are very sweet, so I usually make juice from them.
