A CHRISTMAS GIFT....

My friend Carolyn gave me a curio table for Christmas. I have had so much fun gathering things for it. Here's a list of what I found:

1..gold watch..Bill bought me before we were married..(52 years ago)
2..Rinestone Necklace set from Bill before Lisa and Gary were born..(before 1962)
3..Locket with Ryan's picture at one year of age.
4..Lucas in the white picture frame...his hospital picture...(He's almost 14)
5..Money from El Salvador, Central America
6..The little round watch was Garys when he was a cub scout. I wound it and set the time. It still keeps time. Gary is 43.
7..The little set of furniture was Lisas when she was two. She will be 47 in Jan, 2009.
8..The green Christmas pin was my Mothers. The pin next to it was Bills Mothers.

9..The mans ring with the Ruby stone was my brothers that passed away in 2002. He drove for CFI. That's what it says on the ring.
10..The baby spoons belonged to Lisa and Gary.
11..These don't show up very good, but on the right hand side at the top are 5 little dogs. My sister bought these for me when she went to Washington D.C with her senior class. That was in 1959.
12..The Jesus Cross came from a man at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN., when I went there with my sister-in-law who had cancer. She passed away .
13..The butterfly and the little painted turtles came from El Salvador...purchased by me.
14..A knife (in a box) that Bill has had all of our married life. He has a knife collection.
15..Red match box car belonging to Gary..before school age and a little yellow tractor.
16..A little green turtle that Garys friend Allison made for him because he likes turtles.
I think that covers everything. This was so much fun to gather things that brought back a lot of good memories. Thank you Carolyn for the gift! Merry Christmas!

That is a wonderful, thoughtful gift. I know you had so much fun gathering up all the stuff and remembering with each piece where it came from, etc. I love the way you have it in the table. Don't worry about TW's name. I can't remember my own half the time! lol. Thanks for showing us your gift.

Clara, that is a lovely idea, I have never heard of a curio table before! It is no longer just a curio table now ,you have made it a keepsake table.
Best Wishes
Peggy

REally great idea for a gift! You are a collector, too, aren't you?
I have a hodgepodge of little curio things, and they seem to be growing through out the years. Hmmmm.
Thanks for the really neat blog.
Love,
Ruby (aka grammy)
BTW, I would love to have you stop and see me the next time you are passing thru New Market!

What a wonderful idea!! SO many of us have our precious heirlooms packed in a box someplace or in a drawer. I think this is a great way to show them and to enjoy them yourself. I will be looking for one of these tables.

What a wonderful gift. You will treasure it forever and just be flooded with memories everytime you look at the precious little treasures placed inside.

Oh... do you have a toe ring? bottom of photo, just teasing.

Latane, sorry about the toes....yes, I DO have a toe ring. I don't care a thing about jewerly, but I wear a toe ring. I never even think about it being there. I used to have a gold one on the other foot, but one day I had my foot up in the wash basin in the bath room and it went down the drain. My husband wanted me to take the sink apart to find it, but I said no!
