MORNING GLORIES IN MY YARD.....

Beth...these make me think of you!   Most morning glory flowers unravel into full bloom in the early morning.  Thus getting their name.  The flowers usually start to fade a few hours before the "petals" start showing visable curling.  They prefer full sun throughout the day.  Some morning glories are night blooming flowers.  I imagine they are called "night glories" or maybe "moon glories".  Some people don't like them because of their fast growing and twining habit.  On the other hand,   other people like them because they are excellent vines for creating summer shade on building walls when trellised, thus keeping the building cooler and reducing heating and cooling costs.  I like them for their beauty and they make me think of my Mother.  She always planted a few seed in the spring around the porch when we were small.  What are your feelings on this viney flower?

MY BUDDIES ON THE SWINGING BRIDGE......

Lisa came home to spend the day with me this past Monday.  Of course that is Ryan and Lucas and they have a cousin staying at their house for a month.  She lives in El Salvador.  The month is almost up.  She has been a joy to have around. All of them hate to see her go home.  Altho she isn't used to the farm life, she adapted really well.  Not counting the fact she has been stung twice.  One time by a red wasp.  Her name is Andrea.  This swinging bridge is about two miles below my house.

M FLOODED YARD.....THIS MORNING

It rained three inches in about 30 minutes.   That's the "biggest" river I have seen in a long time.  It happens only when it rains hard and you know how long that has been. (Click twice to enlarge.)
This is my next door neighbor's yard.
And my poor cucumbers....first the wind and now a flood.
This looks like a boat out there but it's my satelite dish disassembled.
My other neighbor's yard
This is where it came into my yard from Silver Grove Road.
God knew we needed a rain and He sent us a good one.Thank you Lord!

Climbing Cucumbers/////

Here's the cucumbers starting to vine up the teepee made from bamboo.   They are doing good so far.  Soon I will have to add more string.  the teepee is about 12 foot tall.  The last time I did this, I had to have a ladder to pick them.

BACK HOME FROM THE OUTER BANKS

We are home and all is well.  We didn't get to stay as long as we wanted, but it was fine.  Everybody had a good time.  Ryan and Lucas went home yesterday.  I took them and spent the night and came back today.  The weather at the beach was perfect, but the day after we left there, it rained six inches.   When I get "caught up" a little, I will post some more pictures.  Hope everyone is have a splendid week.

HELLO EVERYBODY......

I've been working extremely hard this week.   My floor is almost up and ready for a new floor.  That will happen after I go to the Outer Banks next week.   I need a vacation.  A group from my son's church will be there and I was invited.....along with Ryan and Lucas.  We are all very excited to feel that cool ocean water on our feet.  After painting my dining room a pale yellow, I knew my blue dishes would not look good in my hutch.  I gathered all my cut glass and put it in my hutch.   After I had it all arranged, I decided to add some lights because you couldn't see the glass.    So that took a while, and below is the results.  Click to make larger.

HAT'S OFF TO MOTHER'S!!!!!!

On Mother's Day yesterday... at our church,.the  theme was "Hat's Off To Mother's"  All the ladies wore hats.   If you will notice farther down, someone came by and put a hat on my brother-in-law.  He took it all in stride.   What a blessed day we had.  I am so thankful for my Godly Mother...

A TRIBUTE TO MY MOTHER......

To My Mother.....Sarah  Jane Cardwell...Born Aug 3, 1911;  Died Jan. 13 1983

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING.....

When you thought I wan't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned it was good to be kind.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I learned that the little things in life can be special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I knew that there is a God I could always talk to, and I learned to trust in Him.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick, and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing, and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you did not feel good and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grew up.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's alright to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I learned most of life's lessons that I needed to know to be a good and productive person when I grew up.

When you thought I wasn't looking I looked at you and wanted to say "Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking."

I'm saying it now and I wish you could hear me.....maybe you can!!!!!   I love you and miss you everyday!

FLOWERS BLOOMING IN MY YARD TODAY ON MY BIRTHDAY.......

Today was the big 75.   But you know it isn't the years in your life....it's the life in your years.   I try to live each day to the fullest and thank God for waking me up each morning.   I made the above pictures today in my yard.   Here is what my horoscope said about me today in our local paper:     Goals you were unable to achive in the past months are likely to be easily attained in the year ahead.  This won't be by chance.  It will be because you've learned a lot from failure and won't repeat any of your mistakes.   You might not show any signs of getting a move on, but once you get involved in something you like, you'll be dedicated to the cause until the job is finished......  (Boy, I sure do hope it's getting my kitchen floor finished)   :  )
