Have you seen this wall art you can get now? It is vinyl lettering and appears to be hand painted and is easy to apply and easy to remove with no mess. You can get them for the kitchen, bathroom, baby, little/ teen girl room, and little/teen boy and laundry room. I placed this one over Bill's bed in our bedroom.
Friendship improves happiness and relieves misery by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief.

On the Lighter Side.....
The Talking Centipede....
A single guy decided life would be much more fun if he had a pet. So he went to the pet store and told the owner that he wanted to buy an unusual pet. After some discussion, he finally bought a talking centipede, (100-legged bug), which came in a little white box to use for his house. He took the box back home, found a good spot for the box, and decided he would start off by taking his new pet to church with him. So he asked the centipede in the box, "Would you like to go to church with me today? We will have a good time." But, there was no answer from his new pet. This bothered him a bit, but he waited a few minutes and then asked again, "How about going to church with me and receive blessings?" But again, there was no answer from his new friend and pet. So he waited a few more minutes, thinking about the situation. The guy decided to invite the centipede one last time. This time he put his face up against the centipede's house and shouted, "Hey in there! Would you like to go to church with me and learn about God?" This time, a little voice came out of the box, "I heard you the first time! I'm putting on my shoes."

Blue Dishes....
I bought these at an antique store last week in Knoxville. Ice cream tastes so good from them. I've already had a banana split. The dishes in my china cabinet are blue, so I think these will make an interesting addition.

BROWNIES AND WHIPPED CREAM PLEASE!

One day I had a date with friends for lunch. Mae, a little ole "blue hair" about 95 years old, came along with them......all in all, a pleasant bunch. When the menus were presented, we ordered salads, sandwiches, and soups except for Mae who said, "Ice Cream, please....two scoops chocolate.
I wasn't sure my ears heard me right, and the others were aghast. "Along with heated apple pie." Mae added, completely unabashed.
We tried to act quite nonchalant, as if people did this all the time, but when our orders were brought out, I didn't enjoy mine. I couldn't take my eyes off Mae as her pie a-la-mode went down. The other ladies showed dismay. They ate their lunches silently and frowned.
The next time I went out to eat, I called and invited Mae. I lunched on white meat tuna. She ordered a parfait..... I smiled. She asked if she amused me. I answered, "Yes, you do, but you also confuse me.
How come you order rich desserts, while I feel I must be sensible? She laughed and said, with wanton mirth, "I'm tasting all that is possible.
Mae told me, "I try to eat the food I need, and do the things I should....but life's so short, my friend, I hate missing out on something good. This year, I realized how old I was. (She grinned) I haven't told this before. So before I die, I've got to try those things that for years I ignored. I haven't smelled all the flowers yet.....There are too many books I haven't read. There's more fudge sundaes to wolf down and kites to be flown overhead."
She continued, "There are many malls I haven't shopped. I've not laughed at all the jokes. I've missed a lot of Broadway hits and potato chips and cokes. I want to wade again in water and feel the ocean spray on my face. I want to sit in a country church once more and thank God for His grace. I want p-nut butter every day spread on my morning toast. I want un-timed long distance calls to the folks I love the most. I haven't cried at all the movies yet, or walked in the morning rain. I need to feel wind in my hair. So, if I choose to have dessert instead of having dinner, then should I die before night falls, I'd say I died a winner, because I missed out on nothing. I filled my heart's desire. I had that final chocolate mousse before my life expired."
With that, I called the waitress over....I've changed my mind, " I said. "I want what she is having, only add some more whipped cream."

Be mindful that happiness isn't based on possessions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people we love and respect. Remember that while money talks.....CHOCOLATE SINGS!!!!!!.

Baby Booties.....
Since I don't have anything else to do (YEAH RIGHT) ....I knitted these baby booties out of the small amount of yarn I had left over from my last pair of socks. We're going to get more snow this week-end, so I will keep my knitting needles handy.

A Boy And His Dog....
This is Ryan but it isn't his dog. Lisa found it walking in the road coming home from school. She called all her neighbors and found out who it belonged to. But she did manage to get a picture of Ryan with the puppy before carting it back to its home. He hated to let it go.

Flowers and Hospice.....
O.K. Enough of the ice and snow. Now I'm ready to see some flowers and sunshine. I've been rather busy the past two weeks. Home Hospice is coming to help me take care of Bill. (DH) The Dr. reccomended it and left it entirely up to me. The best part....I don't have to try to get him to the Doctor any more. The last time was really a hassle for me and him too. Now the nurse comes and keeps a check on him and calls in his medicine. I don't have to go after his Morphine prescription now at the Doctor's office. She can call that in too!. They have so many good programs. I can take him for respite days...one or five or as many as I need. Right now, I can't see him going, but we will work on that a little at a time. There are also aides that will come and sit with him if I need that. So that's what's going on in my world. Hope everyone survived the extreme cold weather without any side effects. I know I will appreciate the sun a lot more when it does shine!

FROZEN FISH POND
This is what my fish pond looks like today. Something happened to my KOI......and they didn't freeze to death. About three weeks ago, I cleaned out the pond because it was green with algae. I took special care of the fish while I did the cleaning. They were in a big tub of water until the pond water was ready for them. Then I made sure the two waters were the same tempature before putting them back into the pond. I had put some chemicals in the pond for algae and chlorine. I think it was a combination of everything. I miss my fish, but somehow I'm glad they are not out there today swimming around under the iceberg!

IT"S NOT OVER.......
until the fat lady sings and I haven't heard her sing yet. I'm still in the Christmas mode...We are having some really cold weather. The temps are supposed to drop to 9 degrees tonight. My trees are still up and the bows and greenery are still on the windows. I feel sad when it all comes down, but that will one of my chores for next week. Here is what I have been doing this week.

HOW TRUE IT IS
Another year has passed
And we're all a little older.
Last summer felt hotter
And winter seems much colder.
I rack my brain for happy thoughts
To put down on my pad,
But lots of things that come to mind
Just make me kinda sad.
There was a time not long ago
When life was quite a blast.
Now I fully understand
About living in the past.
We used to go to friends homes,
Baseball games and lunches.
Now we go to therapy, to hospitals
And after-funeral brunches.
We used to have hangovers
From parties that were gay.
Now we suffer body aches
And sleep the night away.
We used to go out dining,
And couldn't get our fill.
Now we ask for doggie bags,
Come home and take a pill.
We used to travel often
To places near and far.
Now we get backaches
From riding in the car.
We used to go out shopping
For new clothes at the Mall.
But now we never bother....
All the sizes are too small.
That my friend is how life is,
And now my tale is told.
So enjoy each day and live it up....
Before you're too darn old!
And we're all a little older.

UPDATE ON YOUNG MAN....
My good friend and her neighbor went in together and bought several boxes of groceries. And the neighbor had two quilts, a sweat shirt, another shirt, two tobaggons, and one hand crocheted tobaggon (from my friend) for the smallest child, a new toy for each child. I have another on-line friend who is sending him a box. He had information on a local church that was having a free dinner and presents for the children. This was supposed to happen Saturday, but it came the snow storm and I think they had to cancel the dinner. I'm sure it will be sometime later. The young man has been so appreciative and thankful for everything. I think he is really trying. He said he had an appointment in Jan to see if he could get on WIC. Thanks to everyone who commented on the post. My heart has been blessed!

I'M MORE THANKFUL TODAY THAN I WAS YESTERDAY.....HERE'S WHY.....
Thursday I went to a Silver Sneakers Christmas party. That is the name of our exercise class. The house where we went was magnificient. It set on 100 acres and had anything and everything a person could ever want or need. I could have put my house down in their swimming pool. It was a showcase house in all it's glory! I came home feeling just a little deprived as I stepped into my house. How does a person accumulate that much in a lifetime? THEN on Friday, God slapped me square in the face. Here is how. We had an old car that hadn't run in two years and the back end was burned out of it. (Remember when I caught it on fire, burning leaves?) The A/C was frozen up and it didn't have a belt. I thought it was beyond fixing. We were asking 100.00 for it because it had some good usable parts. ( It's a Lincoln Town Car) A young boy (25) (HE LOOKED LIKE 16) contact us and said he had borrowed 75.00 and would we let him have the car for that amount. I told him yes. Later, he showed up at my door and told me he had a little problem. He had to spend some of the 75.00 to buy kerosene for a heater inside his mobile home. He said his wife had left him and their three boys. He was laid off from his job. He didn't have a car and 61.00 was every penny he had. He was going to work on the car to see if he could get it running. He didn't have on gloves or hat and a very thin jacket. I found him some gloves and a toboggan.. It was 20 degrees outside. After he had been working for about an hour I went out and ask him if he wanted to come inside to get warm. He said he was O.K. I then made him a cup of hot chocolate and took it to him. Around lunch time I took him a bowl of chili beans and some bread. I also took him the 61.00 dollars and told him...well, it's Christmas. I told him to take it and buy his boys something for Christmas or milk or a few things they needed. He cried and I cried. He said, "THE LORD WILL BLESS YOU." Well, you know what....my house didn't look so bad after that. Going from somebody who has everything to somebody who has nothing really opened my eyes. My house looked pretty good today and I am more thankful today for my good warm house and all the food I need and for my health...and for a car to drive...And would you believe...he got the car running and drove it home. He went to Advance Auto and bought a belt..by passed the AC/ somehow. I signed the title over to him and you would have thought it was a 2010 Ferrari...if you could have seen his face. Sometime God has a way to make us even more thankful. Yesterday was one of those days for me!
