Friendship improves happiness and relieves misery by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief.

IT'S MEMORY MONDAY....
Let's take a trip down Memory Lane......I told Margie I would tell about my "feed sack" days. Well, here goes. I also am from the era of when feed came in printed sacks. I was nine or ten years old and my Mother made me a lovely gathered skirt from a green flowered sack. I though it was the most beautiful skirt I had ever seen and could not wait to wear it to school the next day. Off to school I go with a big smile on my face. I walked into the classroom and there sat a boy wearing a shirt made from the same feed sack. The smile left my face immeadiately. To make it worse, it was a boy that I didn't like. I remember his name to this day. As you might guess....I never wore the skirt to school again. He never wore his shirt again so I think he probably felt the same as me. I would love to see him today and ask him if he remembers. We would laugh! Please share a memory from your childhood!

I did remember to do a memory post today at my Pics & Pieces blog...I don't know if I told you before, but I really like this idea.
I don't think I ever had feed sack clothes but i think some of my sisters did...and there was a quilt at home that I think was made with them.
Bless your heart!! I can understand the humiliation. I got flour in pretty printed feedsacks in the 60's and made summer tops for my little girls. They didn't wear them to school though.
What a great story, Clara! Some of my favorite dresses when I was little were made of feedsack material from my Grandpa's farm. I still have some of the material left---very pretty flowered cloth.
I hope you got my email.
My sister and I wore feed sack dresses too. We often dressed alike.
I remember the feed sacks, but don't recall wearing anything from them. I had a cousin in Ohio that was a year older than I was and her Mom would pass all her pretty clothes down to me!! I loved it when they came to visit and brought me those pretty dresses, most of them her Mom made!
Hi Clara, I remember the feed sacks and I had a skirt my mama made me, too. I can't remember if I wore it to school or not. One of my favorite childhood memories is of those old clip on roller skates that went over your shoes. We would walk to where there was a sidewalk and skate all afternoon long. We loved it. Have a great weekend.
