This is what my fish pond looks like today. Something happened to my KOI......and they didn't freeze to death. About three weeks ago, I cleaned out the pond because it was green with algae. I took special care of the fish while I did the cleaning. They were in a big tub of water until the pond water was ready for them. Then I made sure the two waters were the same tempature before putting them back into the pond. I had put some chemicals in the pond for algae and chlorine. I think it was a combination of everything. I miss my fish, but somehow I'm glad they are not out there today swimming around under the iceberg!

I'm sorry about your fish, Clara. But, as you say, at least they didn't end up as frozen fish. Brrr...we're having the same awful cold snap here, except that we have snow. We had a huge snowstorm before Christmas, and we lost our power for five days. Not fun...
I can't wait for spring.
Sorry about your fish, the weather all over the country has went hay-wire. It is cold where it should not be. Hope your Holidays were nice.
Sorry to hear you lost your fish Clara. They would be frozen here. It has been in the single digits and zero for this weekend. It is snowing today. We could get up to 4 inches. Not good weather for fish.
Stay warm.
They are so tough!
I'm sorry you lost your pretty Koi Clara. They are so pretty. I would love to have a little pond here but I know the raccoons would catch any fish in a pond.
We are supposed to warm up this week and I'm ready! Bet you are too!! :)
Hi, Clara,
I know you must miss your Koi. It must be like losing a pet. Sorry that they didn't make it when you cleaned the pond.
Too bad about the fish. Blue Heron's and raccoons got mine so we filled in the pond last summer.I enjoyed the pond so much. It was fun and so pretty and relaxing until the critters found it. Besides I was very attached to my fish and when I saw the Heron eat Charlie it broke my heart. When I saw his beautiful orange body sliding down the heron's throat I just wanted to choke the darn bird to death! He ate Hilda and Gloria and all the little ones too.
My fish survived many freezing winters under ice but that didn't bother them at all.
