This is the square I crocheted for my partner for the month of May. It goes to Bindu in Toledo, OH. I would like to make an afghan from these directions, but the flowers are so tedious to make. Maybe someday when there is nothing else for me to do!!!!! Friendship improves happiness and relieves misery by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief.

Deleted My Last Post!!!!
I deleted my last post showing my drivers license pictures. I didn't hide my address and I didn't know it would be legible. I made the pictures again, but they were awfully blurry, so I won't bother to post them again. A few of you got a good laugh anyway!!!! LOL

Face From Food.....and Birthday Cake....
This is food from my birthday meal.....We started to eat and Lisa made this in her plate. As you can tell, the hair is slaw, the eyes brussel sprouts, the nose a slice of banana and the mouth a piece of asparagus. I think it's cute. Sure did put a smile on my face!
Here is a picture of my birthday cake. Lisa bought it at a little bakery in Knoxville, called The Magpie Bakery. It was an Italian Cream cake and I think that was the best cake I had ever tasted. You call and place an order and they make the cake specifically for you....one cake at a time. It isn't like Walmart where they make 50 at one time. It tasted like a real homemade cake!!!! Thank You Lisa!!!!!Thursday, May 03, 2007
Turning The Big SEVEN O......
On Friday, May 4th, I will be turning 70. Here are some thoughts about the occasion."When Will I Be Old"?
When I was three, it seemed to me
I simply could not comprehend,
The ancient age of twenty-three...
(Or any age past six.)
Of course, when all the years between
Had passed, and twenty-three arrived,
I realized I wasn't old at all,
But youth personfied.
And somewhere down the distant road,
Lay forty-three, the sunset age of life.
When "young" was truly past,
and "old" was firmly fixed, I thought.
But at forty-three, you see,
I scratched my head in disbelief....
Because I knew I wasn't old,
And youth was still at hand.
Aha! Sixty-three! Yes, Sixty-three.... That's when I'll be old beyond recall
At last the truth had dawned on me.
A man's not old 'till sixty-three.
Will I be old at eighty-three?
Most likely not, you see.
If I should reach that golden age....
Still young at heart I'll be!

GRANDMOTHERS...This one is for you Grammie....
GRANDMOTHERS.....Grandmother-grandchild relationships are simple. Grandmas are short on criticism and long on love~~~~ Author Unkown

A garden of love grows in a Grandmother's heart~~~Author Unkown
A grandmother is a little bit parent, a little bit teacher, and a little bit best friend~~~Author Unkown
The history of our grandparents is remembered not with rose petals but in the laughter and tears of their children and their children's children. It is into us that the lives of grandparents have gone. It is in us that their history becomes a future~~~Charles and Ann Morse
What is it about grandparents that is so lovely? I'd like to say that grandparents are God's gifts to children And if they can but see, hear and feel what these people have to give, they can mature at a fast rate~~~Bill Cosby
"You're more trouble than the children are" is the greatest compliment a grandparent can receive~~~Gene Perret
Grandchildren don't stay young forever, which is good because Grandmothers have only so many horsey rides in them~~~Gene Perret
Grandma always made you feel she had been waiting to see just you all day and now the day was complete~~~Marcy DeMaree

Tree House.....
Bill and I went for a drive down by the river today. This tree house caught my eye. I can see children climbing into it and making a play house. The river is just in front of the house. Things like this are the only things I had to do as a child. We never had a TV, Nintendo, M3 Players, Game Boys, Cell Phones..... I didn't even have a phone at all until after I married. How times have changed......some for the better.......some not!!!!Sunday, April 22, 2007
Prairie Star Afghan.....
I finished my Prairie Star. Thanks to Rachel...she sent a picture of one she had seen on e-bay. I knew I had the directions somewhere. It took me over a week to find them.... I had all of the yarn....but ran out of one color and went to my Crochet Partner List and found Christina in California. She sent me enough to finish it. I enjoyed working on this one very much.......Maybe because I remember my Mother making a quilt from this pattern. This one belongs to Ryan (my grandson). Friday, April 20, 2007

Beautiful Sunshine.....
I have never been so happy to see the sunshine. It seems the last "snow" and little cold snap just about got to me. It is so nice here this morning. I can hear the birds singing and carrying twigs to build their nest. I am working on an afghan called Prairie Star. I lacked TWO small diamonds and ran out of yarn. I belong to Crochet partners on line, so I wrote and ask if any one had any of the yarn . A lady from California is sending some to me. I think I will call it my California Prairie Star. I will post a picture when it is completed.
Enjoy your day...wherever you are!!!!!!

When The Snow Is On The Lilac....
It's Sunday afternoon, April 15th at 4:43 in the afternoon. The temperature is 32 degrees. The ground is almost completely white. It has snowed MORE since I made these pictures. I think I will put my Christmas tree up again....which reminds me of a story! It was April 1998 and it snowed 17 inches. I put up a tree out in my front yard with lights and all. Bill said I had lost my mind! I told him if that caused one person to laugh, it would be worth it. Just about that time, my phone rang and it was the 85 year old man who lived across the road from me. His voice was slow and quaint. He said, "I just called to wish you a Merry Christmas". I wish he were still alive...I would put the tree up just for him!Tagged With Wikipedia MeMe!

A is for Apple, and B is for Boat......
That used to be right, But now it won't float!
Age before Beauty is what we once said,
But let's be a bit more real instead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now A's for arthritis;
B's the bad back,
C is the chest pains, perhaps car-d-iac?
D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
F is for fissures and fluid retention,
G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.
H is high blood pressure...I'd rather it low;
I for incision!(s) with scars you can show.
J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,
K is for knees that crack when they bend.
L for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forgot what comes next.
N is neuraligia, in nerves way down low;
O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!
P for prescriptions, I have quite a few, (Just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!)
Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
R for reflux, one meal turns to two.
S for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
T for Tinnitus; there's bells in my ears!
U is for urinary; big troubles with flow'
V is for vertigo, That's "dizzy", you know.
W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?
X is for X-ray, and what might be found.
Y is another year I'm left here behind,
Z is for ZEST that I still have......(IN MY MIND)
I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed,
and I've kept twenty-six doctors fully employed!!!!!
